As of Friday 03 December, Rubys will move into the new COVID Protection Framework.

Rubys Cinema is required to operate as a vaccine mandated facility from this date.

We are unable to remain open at levels orange or red unless we do so.
This is also enabling us to remove some of our existing restrictions, such as distancing in our cinemas.

This means that from Friday 03 December, everyone aged over 12 years and 3 months who visits us will need to show a valid COVID Vaccination Certificate.  You will need to:

  • present/show your Vaccine Pass or Valid Exemption to enter the building
  • continue to scan or sign in upon entry
  • and we will continue to ask people to wear masks inside our theatres as required under the COVID Protection Framework.

As always, our aim is to operate safely, and all our existing cleaning protocols will remain in place. Under the Traffic Light system, as mentioned above, mask wearing continues to be recommended.

Please know that we are doing all that we can to ensure that the new restrictions are as simple to transition into as possible.

There will be a few changes to our business while this is the system we have to adhere to as of December the 3rd

  1. All ticket sales will be processed under the condition and understanding that all ticket holders/attendees over the age of 12 must have a valid, authentic, COVID-19 Vaccine Passport or Valid Medical Exemption to enter.
  2. Tickets purchased online or in store to any screening at Rubys Cinema, will be subject to cancellation without refunds should the ticket holder fail to present a valid COVID-19 Vaccine Passport or Valid Medical Exemption upon entry.
  3. We will be verifying COVID vaccine passports for all members of the public over the age of 12 wishing to enter the building at the point of ticket sales.  But we request that you scan in immediately upon entry into the building.
  4. We will refuse entry to those who cannot produce a verified COVID-19 Vaccine Passport - even if they hold a ticket to a current screening of any film.
  5. We will require members of the public to continue to wear facial masks at every screening when the Framework requires it - except where they can sensibly remove them to enjoy food or beverages. We will ask that once customers have finished their food/drink, that they place the mask back on at the soonest convenience.

Thank you for your patience and understanding while we implement this new system.

We understand that this transitional time will be difficult for us all, but we are hopeful that these restrictions will continue to protect our community as we progress through this pandemic.

THANK YOU to each and every one of you who has supported us, visited us, stood by us and continued to let us entertain you throughout the last 2 years. Without you we could not be operating and we are forever grateful to you for this.

On behalf of the entire Rubys Team,

Sincerely thank you Wanaka,
